Production Supervisor

IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a proud 122-year-old American-owned electric motor and generator manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead our manufacturing operations in Mansfield, Ohio. Reporting to the VP of Operations, our Production Supervisor plays a pivotal role in our complete product lifecycle—from design through delivery. You'll lead a skilled manufacturing team, manage competing priorities, and maintain our unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. This first-shift salaried position is essential to achieving our operational goals while upholding IDEAL's culture of ethics, integrity, and excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee scheduling and manufacturing processes for efficiency, productivity, and quality of products, to meet customer expectations and to render on-time deliveries                                                                                                  
  • Ensure adequate staffing for production needs; manage production/welding staff while maintaining good relations
  • Resolve problems and take corrective action                                                                                                                                        
  • Provide training, support, direction, & guidance to subordinate personnel to assist with job skill development
  • Order production-related parts, tools, and supplies as needed      
  • Record production activities in the ERP system as required                                                                                                                    
  • Manage inventory control in the ERP system
  • Provide maintenance services as needed                                                                                                               
  • Maintain environmental records for compliance with local, state, and federal agencies                                                      
  • Support quality and safety initiatives; oversee housekeeping efforts in manufacturing areas

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  • High School Diploma or certified equivalent, and/or education obtained through a tech school, college, or related courses
  • Five+ years working in a manufacturing environment & five+ years in manufacturing supervision and/or management role.
  • Experience working with customers and vendors in a B2B environment
  • Teamwork approach with excellent communication skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time-management skills
  • This position frequently utilizes standard office equipment, including phones, computers, and copiers/printers.
  • Technical literacy with proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 suite, project management, and ERP systems
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing maintenance is helpful

WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS
  • Daily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40-hour minimum. Overtime as required, subject to production schedules and may vary based upon specific customer needs
  • May be exposed to confined spaces
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
  • is regularly required to talk and hear
  • is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and enter small and/or confined spaces
  • is occasionally required to sit, climb, and/or balance
  • must be able to lift 50-75 pounds and to climb ladders and scaffolding to heights of 30 feet with regularity
  • must be able to exhibit specific vision abilities required by this job, which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
